ittle Wolferl was always humming...
...new tunes, ones that no one had ever heard before.
When he had no one to play with, he would sit down at a table, get his special music paper,
and begin writing down all the tunes that were playing in his head.
As for games, music was his favorite. He loved it because he could write exactly what he felt.
When he was happy, he would write a happy, fast tune like an allegro
Papa, who was so proud of his Little Wolferl, would exclaim,
"They are my son, Wolfie's! He made up every one of them, and he even wrote them down himself, just like I taught him to do."
"Boy, what a kidder that Leopold is!"
people thought. Surely a little boy couldn't be writing music like that!
But, if not Wolferl, where was this brand new music coming from?
When Wolferl was only six, he wrote a longer piano solo.
See if you think it sounds any different than the minuet he wrote when he was five.
.
When he was sad, he would write a slower tune like an andante
.
The people of Salzburg were always hearing music as they passed by the Mozart home.
They loved all of the new and beautiful tunes that were so different from anything that they had ever heard before.
Many were so curious that they would ask Papa, "Where did you find this beautiful music?"
